此曲為George Young和Harry Vanda所寫，倆人都是歐洲裔的澳洲人，而且大有來頭，曾共組過澳洲樂團The Easybeats ( 1964─1969 )，組團當時亦是由倆人所寫的一首《Friday on My Mind》，不僅在1966及1967分別打進美、荷、英等國的排行榜，還在2001被「澳洲表演權協會 (APRA)」所屬的100個業界代表，選為歷來 ( 75年來 )「最佳澳洲歌曲」的第一名，並該曲在2007被收錄保存在「澳洲國家電影及聲音檔案館」。另，George Young的兩個弟弟Malcolm與Angus，是澳洲也是國際知名搖滾樂團AC/DC的主要人物。

此首《Love Is In The Air》由蘇格蘭裔澳洲籍歌手John Paul Young於1977首錄發行，除了在澳洲排行榜拿下第3名，另在英國單曲及美國流行排行榜分別獲得第5及第7名，而也是John Paul Young唯一入榜美國前40名的歌曲。同樣地是，這首歌在2017也被選入「澳洲國家電影及聲音檔案館」保存。

據John Paul Young說這首歌，是因之前他的一首《Standingin the Rain》，突然在德國當地的俱樂部竄紅並進入排行榜，故急需要再推出一首歌來「接氣」。他曾赴德國並聽當地的音樂，或由於Disco盛行，幾乎都是電子配樂的曲風，故要求George 和 Harry也能依此方向作處理，此曲果然也趕上流行，獲得成功。

這首《Love Is In The Air》被用在1992獲得金球獎提名的澳洲電影《Strictly Ballroom》( 台譯：舞國英雄 ) 中，並另發行電影原聲帶。1979，英國歌手Tom Jones翻唱此曲。2018，由台灣女演員陳意涵首部執導主演的大陸偶像電視劇《幸福，近在咫尺》，英文劇名亦為《Love Is In The Air》，卻跟前述這首歌一點關係都沒有。
