此曲為貓王Elvis Presley 於1963所發行的歌曲，在告示牌單曲排行榜達到第3名，並獲得銷售50萬張以上「金唱片」的認證。其他在比利時、芬蘭、法國、愛爾蘭、紐西蘭等國家以及亞洲的日本則是冠軍曲。當年在台灣，好像沒什麼權威的西洋歌曲排行榜，卻也是大家熟悉的熱門曲。

此曲首次出現在英國，是在BBC的電視節目「Juke Box Jury」，節目邀請的來賓之一是披頭合唱團的John Lennon，他對此曲投下的票是「a miss」，意思當然就是不看好，而且說「Like Bing Crosby now」，平克勞斯貝是美國資深的歌手，以演唱聖誕歌曲聞名，意為嘲諷這是老掉牙的東東。不過其他英國人和Lennon的看法可不一樣，此曲在一週內亦拿下了英國排行榜的冠軍。

此曲歌詞淺顯易懂，說一個女孩外表言行像是天使，其實是「惡魔」偽裝的，也就是「表裡不一」。現代男女交往，也常認不清對方真正的性格、習慣，待結婚後發現，卻已來不及了，要不就是忍受，要不就是離婚收場。哀哉！
