《 如此這般的愛情 》
在與阿茲罕默症對抗十年之後，美國前總統雷根在本月與世長辭。令我動容的，不是壯盛哀悽的喪禮，也不是沿路上送他最後一程的十數萬美國人民 ……….
這位曾是好萊塢演員的總統，在上任二個月即遭槍擊，復原後致力於財政經濟的推動，創造一片榮景，以至後人稱八零年代的美國為「雷根時代」。
當槍擊案發生後，七十歲高齡的雷根在短時間內失血了三分之ㄧ。南西夫人匆忙趕到醫院，沒想到雷根看到妻子後竟說道：「親愛的，對不起。我忘記要躲開子彈了。」南西緊握雷根的手，輕吻他的額頭，向上天祈禱她的先生能平安的離開手術房。
開刀房裏，命在旦夕的雷根看著醫療小組說：「希望你們都是共和黨員。」一位民主黨的醫師回答：「總統先生。今天我們都是共和黨員。」兩人機智的對答，化解了開刀房緊張的氣氛。三個小時後，子彈終於從他左胸取出。他也成為美國史上唯一一位被刺殺卻活了下來的總統。
而他的兒子永遠記得父親隔天對他說的第一句話：「如果你要被槍擊，千萬不要穿新買的西裝。」因為他在槍擊案當時穿的西裝，就是前一天才購置的。而那套新西裝，為了方便急救，早在急診室時便被徹底剪破丟棄。
這就是雷根。幽默風趣的言行與樂觀正直的人格，讓他成為是美國歷史上最受歡迎的領袖之一。

電視轉播中，第四十任美國總統的棺木，停放在首府華盛頓靜肅的天主堂裡，讓各國元首與要員對雷根做最後的致意。南西夫人瘦小的身軀與身旁高大的侍衛隊雖呈明顯的對比；但是她嬌弱的神態，卻散發無比的堅毅。儀式最後，她慢步到靈柩旁，一邊用手掌溫柔的撫摸棺木，一邊細聲說出道別的話語；在棺木上留下輕輕一吻後，才不捨地離開。輕柔的舉動，重擊我心。她充滿著無限深情的愛，我兩行不知覺滑下的熱淚。
親愛的南西夫人。您的先生曾在日記寫下：『回想當時在急診室張開眼看到南西時，我只有一個想法。我祈禱每一天都能在她的陪伴中度過，感謝神讓我擁有她的愛，這我生命中最美好的事物。』我想上帝一定聽到他的請求。
最簡單動人的，如此這般的愛情。
