美國鄉村歌手兼詞曲作家Garth Brooks於1985開始其職業歌唱生涯，1989發行其首張同名專輯《Garth Brooks》，分別拿下流行與鄉村專輯榜的第12及第2名，此首《If Tomorrow Never Comes》即為該專輯中另發行的單曲，由Garth Brooks自己與人所合寫，此曲衝上了告示牌熱門鄉村單曲榜的第1名，也是Brooks個人的首支鄉村冠軍曲。

包含前述專輯，Garth Brooks共有9張「鑽石唱片」( 依據美國唱片工業協會RIAA的認證標準，銷售超過50萬張為「金唱片」、100萬張以上為「白金唱片」，「鑽石唱片」則是銷售超過1千萬張。) 此成績超越了披頭合唱團的6張「鑽石」。截至2020，依據RIAA的統計，Garth Brooks是世界專輯銷售最佳的音樂藝人之一，其總銷量在美國本土即有1.56億張，超越了貓王Elvis Presley，但仍排在「披頭四」之後。

愛爾蘭歌手Ronan Keating ( 原Boyzoon合唱團體的成員 ) 之前以一首《When You Say Nothing at All》走紅，2002翻唱此曲，其版本奪得英國、澳洲、捷克、丹麥及挪威等國家排行榜的冠軍，前5名的也多達10個國家，毫無疑問是「大豐收」了。

此首情歌是頗為動聽，但看歌詞內容卻非如此感人，主要是闡述「天有不測風雲，愛要趁早表達」。但想想，都已經睡在同一張床上了，還要懷疑對方是否有感受到自己真誠的愛，看來是這位老兄半夜睡不著，想太多了。呵呵呵！
