這首《Rose Garden》是美國歌手兼寫歌者Joe South所作，並在1969由自己錄唱發行，然並未獲得佳績；接著也由幾位歌手翻唱，甚至包含唱紅《When Will I See You Again》的黑人女子團體The Three Degrees，而依舊未能在歌壇激起任何的漣漪。

當Lynn Anderson向她擔任製作人的老公Glenn Sutton表示想錄唱這首歌時，Glenn Sutton並不同意，部份原因是其中的一句歌詞 ─「I could promise you things like big diamond rings」，由一般世俗的觀念，這通常是男對女的許諾，顯見這是首「男人歌」。而最後Sutton還是同意Anderson在錄音空檔時來錄唱，但也只是當成有可能收錄在專輯的備選歌曲之一。

Lynn Anderson錄唱的版本採取較快的節奏以及輕鬆愉悅的旋律，當錄唱完成，Anderson所屬的哥倫比亞唱片公司的執行長聽過後，堅持要以單曲方式分別在鄉村以及流行歌曲的市場發行。這位執行長果然是獨具慧眼，這首歌在1970除奪得了錢櫃及鄉村排行榜的冠軍及告示牌熱門百大的第三名。並在1971為Anderson贏得了一座最佳鄉村歌曲女歌手的葛萊美獎，也成為了她日後的招牌歌。
