今天的面試 狀況好極了!
昨天晚上十一點就乖乖上床
今天六點半就爬起來了
洗完澡 吃個簡短的早餐
我就一路向南 往西雅圖出發!

開不到兩個半小時就到了
看著地圖 記起昨晚 Steve 所講的 ”Shanghai Garden”

Gee, this name sounds so familiar, 我告訴他

Well, Chinese restaurant names as such are all very generic, Steve replies


說什麼餐館在 ”International District”
我照著地圖開車 越開越不對勁

”明明就是 China Town 嘛”

幹麻用這麼 sophisticated 的名字

anyway, 開一開 到了

我的媽呀 明明就是 滬江春 嘛!
我和甜心妳去吃過好幾次
還帶 Ross & Karen 去吃過
嘻嘻 西雅圖我果然熟的很
難不倒我

好險我早一個小時到
因為餐館沒開 所以我到旁邊先 preview 一下
知道還有什麼餐館可以去
結果 Steve 來了 (遲到) 又發現餐館關閉
馬上就歉聲連連 hehe 正合我意!

當然 我馬上建議 Steve 去吃旁邊的飲茶 (剛剛找好的)
嘿嘿 一開始就給他一個下馬威
來個 in control, 馬上讓他感覺到我的 leadership
不錯不錯

Steve 是一個 Japanese & Chinese 混血兒 (30來歲)
在電話上聽到他的聲音 我就知道他是華人
坐下來沒多久 我先和他 build rapport
和他聊一聊來西雅圖的經歷 聊一聊家庭背景
聊一聊我對日本的了解 加上一些微笑
我和他馬上就混的很熟了 (很好很好)

Steve 當然不是省油的燈
開始問問題

要我從頭到尾講給他聽
我加入 College Pro, Market America 的經過
我當然也早有準備 講一個精采的故事
他聽的津津有味 猛問問題
問到我是如何 pay my canvassers, acquire customers
我都回答如流

沒辦法, lunch interview 實在不難
我又最喜歡講我的故事
我們討論的很順利 直到他進階的問我一些更困難的問題

”What are your plans when you enroll in Columbia Business School?”

”What internships have you looked into?”

”I know a successful real estate developer who’s gotten there without
even a College degree, why do you need an MBA?”

哇 真的嚇一跳
有一點措手不及
因為我從來沒有想過要先想 internship
但是 Steve 又說那非常的重要
說我選的 internship 會直接影響我要去哪裡讀學校

我的媽呀
希望那不要影響我的 application 才好

反正我還是胡鄒過去了

all in all, I think the interview went quite well

我對他大部分的問題 都回答的不錯
很多次 當他問的問題被我成功解答的時候
他都會說, ”fair fair”

我想 他應該了解我想讀 MBA 的原因
也知道我的過去
對我的能力應該也有多少認可
我想大致上 算是個不錯的 interview 吧


所以, I did my best
但是, is my best a fit for Columbia Business School?

Is my age a concern to them?
Is my limited understanding in Real Estate going to affect my application?

不知道 順其自然吧
我也看過很多人做了 smooth interviews, 結果還不是被踢掉

剛從 interview 出來的時候

all I was thinking was, ”how could I have done the interview better?”

現在 在開完三個小時車程之後 我想開了

I’ve done my best on the interview

I’ve prepared, practiced, and did everything I could to be ready

It all comes down to what the school thinks of me.

If they don’t think I’m a fit, then I’m not a fit.

Afterall, I am who I am. My past is in the past. My future is always an unknown.

There’s nothing I can do to change that.
