會寫歌的人就是這樣，隨時可以週遭的事物來引發靈感，就連跑步時也一樣。瑞典流行樂團ABBA的吉他手Bjorn Ulvaeus喜歡跑步，在跑步同時習慣會發出「tck-a-ch」的呼氣聲，然後由此聯想到了「Take a Chance」，這也是Benny Andersson ( 鍵盤手 ) 和Bjorn Ulvaeus創作這首《Take a Chance on Me》的源起。

此曲於1978發行後，獲得了英國排行榜的冠軍 ( 為ABBA在英國的第13首冠軍曲，也是繼《Knowing Me, Knowing You》及《The Name of the Game》後，連續第3首的冠軍曲。)。另在澳洲、比利時、愛爾蘭及墨西哥亦為冠軍，在加拿大、德國、紐西蘭、瑞士和美國則為第3名。

美國共和黨的重量級人物John McCain ( 約翰馬侃 ) 是ABBA的大粉絲，在2008代表參選總統時，曾揚言若當選，將在白宮所有的電梯內播放ABBA的歌曲，也一度想將此首《Take a Chance on Me》當作競選的主要歌曲，但在連繫了授權的相關之後，被開了超乎尋常的天價而作罷。

ABBA於1972組成時是兩對夫妻，Benny和Anni ( 1971同居，1978結婚，1980分居，1981離婚，後又各自嫁娶。)、Bjorn和Agnetha ( 1971結婚，1978分居，1980離婚，後倆人也各自再婚。)。70年代末，應該是ABBA成就最輝煌的時期，夫妻卻在此時要鬧分手，有人說是因成名帶來的壓力太大所致。或許吧！其實，當事業成功、名利雙收之後，許多人在想法和需求上也會隨之改變。這樣也好，如同歌名，就相互再給對方一個機會吧！
