Passage Questions : Read the passage and answer the questions.

The Academy Awards used to be different than it is today. The first Academy Awards took place in 1929. Back then, people knew ahead of time who the winners were. They changed this because it wasn't much fun. Now, winner's names are put into envelopes and not known until the envelopes are opened at the ceremony. We all know those famous words, "And the Oscar goes to…" The awards received are little gold statuettes called Oscars. They are thirteen and a half inches long and weigh eight and a half pounds. Every year, fifty Oscars are made by a company located in Chicago. It takes 12 people about 20 hours to make each Oscar. As they are making them, everyone who touches them has to wear white gloves. That is how important these prizes are!

For a person who works in the film industry, one of the highest awards he or she can receive is an Oscar. The statuette doesn't totally belong to the winner, though. Winners have to sign an agreement that they cannot sell their Oscar without first offering to sell it back to the Academy for US$1. It is not easy to win an Academy Award though some people have won multiple awards. Katherine Hepburn has received four Oscars for Best Actress during her career. There have also been three movies that have each received 11 Oscars. Meryl Streep, though she's only won two Academy Awards, has been nominated 14 times. Peter O'Toole has never won even though he's been nominated 8 times. For many people, the Oscar is a symbol of being successful in Hollywood.
