美國華人始終需要面對某種偏差觀念﹕就因為他們的種族不同﹐所以被認為是 “永久的外國人”，而非全然美國人，所以有很多和作者Amy Tan一樣是是個華裔美國人的人，還是會因此而產生了對國家、空間、身分認同的問題。

Chinese Americans have to handle with some identity problems.
They are a different race from white people.
They are considered as foreigners when they try to get involved with the society.
Most people have same experiences and difficulties as the author.

牽扯出的問題其實還有很多例如兩個文化間的差異衝突問題、種族間的偏差、語言上的隔閡…等等的問題 尤其在美國這個大熔爐裡﹐因移民母國的語言、文化、制度，不同於美國所產生的價值體系矛盾問題

Actually, there are many problems involved. for example, it might be involved the problem of difference between two cultures, it might generate some problems such as culture shock in America, so called melt pot.

The immigrants can’t accept the differences between languages, cultures, and institutions from motherland.

這本書我還在咀嚼中，只看了一部份後趕緊又退回書店，不是不好，是書愈買愈多疊在家，以後也是捐到圖書館去，也不便宜，平裝本加稅金USD$16.23 X 32=台幣TWD$520，有空再去窩在書店裡面。書店裡每個角落都有沙發椅，你想待多久就多久，Starbucks 咖啡店也開在裡面，那股香味不斷地吸引我的鼻子，同時也把自己的思緒沉浸在書香裡。

有一套珍藏從台灣搬來的金庸武俠小說，一直被孩子忙得團團轉，放了八年以後，還是沒時間去看，前幾年家裡清倉的時候，把它們送給圖書館，現在想去圖書館借來看，卻再也找不着！
