White Spot Restaurant.

The White Spot is a BC-owned and operated restaurant chain that has been around since the late 1920's. It was first started as a burger take-out but then became one of Vancouver's most famous drive-through restaurants with locations expanding throughout the province. In more recent decades, the White Spot has changed from a take-out to a sit-down restaurant, and its menu has expanded well beyond diner food. The White Spot seems to have a loyal following among BC residents, especially among families with young children, and senior citizens.

But because of all the nostalgia locals have for the White Spot, many will hype it up. Okay, maybe not hype it up, but they'll probably recommend it a lot. Yet, I'm sure most visitors who don't have this White Spot nostalgia will probably find the restaurant no big deal. But that's the White Spot for you. It's nothing fancy, but it's reliable good old fashioned comfort food without any attitude.

Surprisingly, White Spot makes an awesome turkey dinner, with all the fixings! Lots of turkey sliced on top of mashed potatoes and stuffing, with gravy and cranberry sauce.

The old standby however is the famous White Spot burger. There's nowhere else that makes burgers like this. It hasn't changed since I was a kid (and probably not since a long time before then!) They toast the bun slightly and *always* have a thin slice of dill pickle resting on top. The White Spot burger will usually come with lettuce, tomato, the burger, and their famous "Triple O" sauce which is their own blend of mayo, relish, and ketchup or who knows. Yes, it's a simple recipe, but when you grow up eating White Spot burgers, the nostalgia kicks in when you're presented with one, and it becomes the best tasting thing you've ever had.

Knowing this restaurant has been around for over 70 years in western Canada.

It offers breakfasts, luch and dinner.

It's triple "O" burger was voted "one of the Top 125 Canadian experiences and the athmosphere is bright and modern.

If you have room for dessert, they have a moist, rich chocolate cake that's about 5 layers high with chocolate icing, whipped cream, ice cream, and a cherry on top. Heaven!

Directions: White Spot has full sit-down restaurants all over BC, but they have a few smaller take-out locations called "Triple-O's" which have popped up in the weirdest of areas (ie: in Mac's convenience stores!)
