This is a letter to let you have an idea how lucky it would be for me if I can work here.
"Finally...we've made it. It's been 211 consecutive nights without Cubbies baseball at The Jack since last season. As historic as the ballpark
is, it's a lonely place without the crack of the bat and that
distinctive sound of a ball hitting the catcher's mitt.
Now, with just under two hours before the plane lands at DBIA with our 2003 Daytona Cubs, I'll take a moment to say this:
I'm proud to belong to a team that has energy, excitement, passion, work ethic, and a quest for fun like the men and women on the Daytona Cubs staff,
from ownership group in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, right down to the
hardworking interns (the best I've ever worked with 就是我) and a grounds crew that has the
best field in baseball (you'll see for yourself Wednesday night for the BCC game).
And finally, I said it once and I'll say it again...2% of this country gets up every morning and loves going to work. Out of that 2%, how many go to work at a ballpark? Out of that remotely small number, how many go to
work at a ballpark a mile from the beach? Out of that totally minute amount, how many can drive on the beach at sunrise, watch the manatees swim the river
right outside the ballpark at sunset, and enjoy a cool breeze even on the warmest of nights in the most scenic location God ever dropped a stadium? How many have the future of the Chicago Cubs and the legend of Jackie
Robinson right in their face when they go to work day in, day out?
Forget Dyersville, Iowa, and their field of dreams...this is heaven. Man, I love my job. It doesn't get any better than this! If it does, I don't want
to know about it until after I'm dead.
There's only one thing left to say....
ROCK ON!!!!"
PS You're right, that's our GM in the picture.
