From August to early of September, the most important thing to Edinburgh is its annual festival, especially the military tattoo. The first time I heard of it, I didn’t know tattoo was a performance until I saw it. The first time experience is always the most amazing. I bought the ticket from black market unexpectedly and saw the 2nd final tattoo performance during Edinburgh festival period. To be honest, it’s really amazing and surprised me.
The weather in Edinburgh is always windy and rainy, it’s because of Edinburgh is closed to the sea. However, it doesn’t stop people’s curiosity to gaze it. The streets around Edinburgh castle are always crowded. Meanwhile, the street performers are also the main attractive spotlight to all tourists. If you can visit Edinburgh during this season, I believe you may experience a lot of Scottish things. Furthermore, you may also enjoy a variety of shows in the theaters and buy some real Scottish souvenirs, such like kilt, bagpipe, sweater, and scarf, etc. They definitely will run out of the money from your pocket.
This is the 2nd time to see Tattoo. I am not as excited as the first time. However, it’s really a must-see program in Edinburgh. Therefore, twice is never too much. On that day, the weather seem didn’t give us a break. The heavy rain made us all wet, even though I wore the windbreaker and raincoat. The strong wind and heavy rain made everyone shaking. This year, China joined the performance. I think it’s very special, cause BBC keeps on announcing this news for many days. However, their performance is very unique; it’s combined some traditional Chinese music and dancing and Scottish performance. Meanwhile, it also add the chorus to make Tattoo more variety. I swayed my body with the Spanish girl who was sit next to me with the music tempo. Suddenly, you found the music it’s the key for us to have the same language at this moment.
Tattoo starts from 9:00 pm to 10:30pm on weekday. When the show was finished, we were all wet and very exhausted. We arrived at our accommodation around 12:20 am. What a special night to everyone! On the other day, there are a lot of students absent. Gosh! Hope they didn’t get a cold.
