此曲為Brill Building ( 知名詞曲作家群聚的大廈 ) 中的Kenny Young所寫，並於1966自己錄製發行，但未受到足夠的關注，未進入告示牌熱門100的排行榜。

英國隱士合唱團Herman's Hermits於1965曾錄製了Kenny Young的一首《Just a Little Bit Better》，成績甚佳 ( No. 7 )，1967再錄唱此首《Don't Go Out into the Rain(You're Going to Melt)》，並跟隨在百萬銷售的《There's a Kind of Hush》之後發行，成績也相當亮眼，獲得排行榜第18名。

Herman’s Hermits的版本並未在英國發行，倒是英國樂團The Swinging Blue Jeans和歌手David Garrick在1967推出各自的版本，唯均未能進入英國排行榜。Garrick的版本在歐洲的德國和荷蘭都算是成功，1968在馬來西亞更衝上了第4名，但隨後又被The Swinging Blue Jeans的版本超越，後者登上了第1名。

以下另貼香港樂團Teddy Robin & The Playboys的版本，台長我很懷疑當年自己是聽他們的版本而熟悉此曲的旋律的。「下雨天，留客天，留我不？留。」而看來男主角並未將這位甜心給留住，成了「下雨天留客，天留我不留。」
