昨日BBC談中國人觀光倫敦，多去「再見馬克思」，去墓表態：「到此一遊」！
上月，一張漫畫將Bush 總統也掛在天安門上，「與馬克思共同革命去」！
我在 The Economist 找他，約有128篇提到他（Search results for marx. Items 1 to 10 of 128 displayed, sorted by relevance）

傳記方面，台灣十幾年前翻譯過柏林（Isaiah Berlin, 1907-1997） 寫的《馬克斯傳》（伊賽.柏林著『馬克斯傳;』趙干城 鮑世奮譯，台北：時報文化出版公司，？年）。又出版簡介本：『紅色的天堂夢:馬克思, （麥克萊倫/李英明/(Mclellan, David)/時報,, 1983）。

現在大陸翻譯出英語世界權威的馬克思生平、思想研究文獻之一《卡爾•馬克思傳（第3版）》。（[英]戴維•麥克萊倫（David McLellan）『卡爾•馬克思傳』（中文版權頁說它翻譯自Karl Marx: A Biographyt, London: McMillan, 1973.。我懷疑是Karl Marx: His Life and Thought, London: McMillan, 1973.）（第3版），王珍譯，北京；人民大學出版社出版，2005）

David McLellan主要著作有：《馬克思主義以前的馬克思》（ Marx before Marxism 1970）、《馬克思的生平與思想》（1973）、《馬克思以後的馬克思主義》（Marxism after Marx: an introduction 1979，1980，1998）與《馬克思思想導論》（1987）、, Marxism and religion: a description and assessment of the
Marxist critique of Christianity.（1987）等等近十本。

翻譯上的許多問題，如中共的權威本與英文版本多差異，這姑且不談。我只談一句第430頁中馬克思最喜歡之拉丁格言：”Homo sum, nihil humani a me alienum puto: "
英文本為 “I consider that nothing human is alien to me.”。 中文翻譯有點奇怪：「人所具有的我多具有。」

我查一下，它是Ter•ence (Originally Publius Terentius Afer. 185?–159? B.C..)之言。不過找不到其文章脈絡。其他版本的英文翻譯略舉：
◎ a famous Latin saying: "homo sum, nihil humani a me alienum puto" - "I am a human being, and I consider nothing belonging to humanity as alien to me".◎"As a human being, nobody can be alien to me".；
◎I am a man:. no aspect of humanity is foreign to me.

我猜這位博大精深之馬克思當然富有推己及人、同感之心，不知道它與『民胞物與』的想法差多少？
