談pattern與model 都翻譯成模式
（這筆記談的只是對於市面上將pattern與model 都翻譯成「模式」，很可能誤導。並沒有將它們弄得很清楚，所以只是當我與woo的紀錄。基本上，觀察知覺得之者為pattern，而抽象者多近model？）
緣起：
~知識通訊評論半月刊（016期；2005.07.16 ）有一簡單書介：
書名／行為的模式：勞倫茲，丁柏根，以及動物行為學的奠基

這讓我想談談為什麼現在我們流行將 pattern 翻譯成「模式」。你認為如何？這會不會跟model 弄混？
Woo：「但「行為模式」真是已行之多年」這正是我的問題之一：
hc：「用model of behavior去google，上千萬個，不過，它們的意思與patternｏf behavior不同。我查Wordnet的 pattern和model兩字，其中同義語都沒彼此列入。不過，Wikipedia或編譯館學術名詞101頁中少數將兩者同譯。
Herbert A. Simon的書都有 Models of （Man/ My Life/ Discovery/ Economics……）翻譯為「我生活的種種模式」等等。在設計學有本名著Patterns Language by CA，翻譯成「模式語言」…. 」
編譯館學術名詞 舉例；

謝謝woo--sport至少是雙關語；model和mode 意思不太同。

woo 留言：
查《綜合英漢文科大詞典》（我幾百年沒查這詞典），model一詞下面上百詞例，但「模型」與「模式」的譯法各佔大宗，如causal model(因果模型，因果關係），dual-factor model(雙因果模式）。值得注意的是behaviour model一條譯作「行為模式」。看來在某些context下，model與pattern可相通。
