It's cool here.
York University looks different from Leeds Uni. On my way to this computer room, I walked by the lake, looked at ducks and swans, and wondered whether I'm gonna spend years here feeling lonely and smelling the quietness as now. Few people are around. Most of the faces I came across with so far are those with yellow skins. Hmm.
Met two guys from China in the temporary dorm I'm staying in. They could tell I was from Taiwan the minute I spoke the first syllable. I must think of a way to cover up my Taiwanese accent. (Ha!)
Walked to York city centre yesterday and got myself really tired. I couldn't bother walking back, instead, waiting for bus but soon changed my mind--queuing to get a taxi. Yes, queuing for a damn taxi. Spent a fortune on that taxi tour back--I really felt like cursing. Decided not to go to downtown today.
I noticed that I brought quite a few things here that were good ideas, yet, a lot more is necessary, for example, slippers. Without them I had to walk from my room to the shower room with bare feet. Disgusting, right? Oh, well. Am now waiting for my brother to send me a pair. What else can I do?
When it's dinner time I think of mum. I sort of torture myself here, I must say. What did I eat? Mostly crisps (potato chips) and cold sandwiches. Bought two instant noodles this morning and can have something hot for tonight. How wonderful you might say. Well, I promise I'll start cooking soon. Really!
When it's not meal time I think of Chun, my BF. I miss him so much that I almost wonder why the hell I'm here and he's there. (:P) Oh, well. We're both grown-ups and should soon be both extremely busy struggling with school work. As long as I know he'll come and visit before the end of the year, I know I can survive here and keep thinking sweet thoughts of him.
I think I'll visit London later this week. (Dear Rachel, this bit is for you.) Not that I got too much money to spend, it's just that I think I deserve a mini holiday. Dear London, I'm coming!
Also got in touch with Vicky--my old flatmate who's now working in Leeds. She's so dead-busy at the moment, but I'm sure meeting up with her would be a lot of laughs, indeed.
Plans for tomorrow: go get a bike, turn in the forms to health centre, visit the library, buy cooking utencils.
