[英文社會學日記2] 我看齊瓦哥醫生

Doctor CHIVAGO

I saw the movie “Doctor CHIVAGO” today. It’s so great to
understand a little bit of the Russian revolution by its time
background. What a dramatic time! The moral standard changes rapidly
during the radical political change, cooperating with the change of
power structure. People need to redefine again and again in their
daily life “what is normal, what is good?”…..

Revolution must base on the collective consciousness, which
is so ambiguous to define and capture. But what is the motive to that
pushed the collective consciousness to demand a revolution? Marx will
said it’s from material aspect, Durkheim may say it’s because of the
change of solidarity. However, I prefer what Marx said to explain the
revolution in Russia. The big, extreme poverty and dissatisfaction
during the early stage of industrialization.
