美日主導的TPP達成實質性談判簽署後，中國積極部署自貿區戰略，中國國家主席習近平與英國首相卡麥隆舉行會談後，雙方呼籲早日開展「中歐自貿區」聯合可行性研究，在條件成熟時可簽訂深入全面自貿協定。
廣核消毒不介入政治
中歐自貿區是中國國務院總理李克強去年訪歐首度提出，習近平近期極力拉攏英、德、法歐盟三大國，支持中歐自貿區構想。
與此同時，對於中國入股英國辛克利角核電廠33.5％股權，面對外界質疑，投資方之一的中國廣核集團副總經理鄭東山親上火線說，這事關中國的「國家名譽」。「中國希望保護自己的聲譽，不會做任何冒險的事」。所以，絕不會有以參建核電廠來對英國施加政治影響力。
中國梅鐸、梅林合作
「我100％地確定，那種事不會發生」；作為一位核能項目營運者，安全和保障永遠是第一位。鄭東山強調，我們不只將遵守英國政府所制定的法規體系，還將在任何時候向英國民眾保持透明。中英關係是「互利」的；中國還想要「在這裡做好幾十年」。
娛樂事業是習近平訪英所促成的合作焦點之一，有中國梅鐸之稱的華人文化產業投資基金董事長黎瑞剛，與僅次於迪士尼的全球第二大主題樂園集團梅林娛樂集團，合資3億美元（約98億台幣）在上海開「樂高遊樂園」主題公園。此外，還將設立中英電影投資基金，首期種子基金5000萬英鎊，2020年基金規模將達15億英鎊。

據了解，同樣由梅林集團打造的中國首家「樂高探索中心」，9月下旬已在上海長風景畔廣場動工；占地3000平方公尺的探索中心，設有10個主題館，預定2016年春季完工。
習近平此行促成中英兩國簽署了金額約400億英鎊（約2兆元台幣）的經貿協議，遍及石油、醫療、汽車等行業。
