While I was a high school student, I always dreamed about to be a university student. Meanwhile, teachers often talked about college life to encourage us while we were tired of studying. In my memory, the last year of senior high school was tough. We spend almost whole time studying in order to get into a good university. After hard working, I got into the English department of Chinese Culture University.
Majoring English seems to be a dream for me when I was in high school. After entering this department, I think English is not as fun as before. In the past, I read English not only for exams but also for fun; now, everything is English and I have to study for only one purpose, exams. In my view, a man interests in English not mean he can major in English. Majoring English and having interests in English are quiet different.
Also, I jointed tennis club in order to make my tennis technique better. Tennis, which my father taught me, is my favorite sport. When I first time to play it, I thought it was too difficult. At that moment, I had a thinking, quit it. But, my father encouraged me to keep working hard and told me “Practice makes perfect.” Now, I can hit balls smoothly without problems. But, I think I have lots to learn.
There is a very big difference between my high school and my department. Before, there were all boys in the class; now, there is a large percentage of female in the department. In the beginning, I felt a little bit uneasy; after weeks, I get along with my classmates.
After one year in the English department of CUU, I think I start to fall in love with English. I found English is not so boring anymore. I am glad that I love English because this would be a motivation for me to support me to study English. All in all, English is nothing but great.
