電動化發展已經在汽車領域百花齊放，反觀機車電動化的競爭似乎才剛開始，當哈雷宣布與台灣光陽機車合組電動車上市公司之時，杜卡迪(Ducati)也發布MotoE電動賽車。

2019年FIM賽會在頂級MotoGP賽事之外，追加MotoE電動車組別，當時以實驗性質舉辦的電動機車錦標賽如今正進入第四個賽季，原本負責賽車供應的Energica，在合約到期之後由杜卡迪拿下賽車供應合約，從2023年賽季開始提供賽車，令人意外的是，杜卡迪拿下MotoE賽車供應合約後卻沒有任何新訊息，外界不免懷疑MotoE賽車的開發是不是遇到瓶頸。

今年十月杜卡迪發布MotoE概念圖後，終於在近日發布賽車測試照，代號為V21L原型賽車在著名的Misano賽道測試，外型與Panigale相似，測試時動力輸出限制在70％，接下來會隨著開發腳步加大動力輸出，由於杜卡迪隸屬奧迪旗下，而母集團福斯集團(VAG集團)正全力衝刺電動車，因此杜卡迪MotoE電動賽車很有可能來自奧迪技術支援。
杜卡迪eMobility總監Roberto Canè表示，我們正在經歷一個真正非凡的時刻，我很難相信這是現實，但確定不是夢！賽道上的第一輛電動杜卡迪不僅因其獨特性，而且表現方面非常出色：其性能目標和極短的研發時間都具有挑戰性。正因為如此，整個團隊全力投入開發工作，今天的結果是對我們近幾個月努力的回報。我們當然還沒有完成，我們知道前面的路還很長，但與此同時，我們已經鋪好了第一塊重要的磚。
