Hello Janet and family
It was nice talking to you last night and finding out that you made it home safely. We read your note while waiting upstairs for you to come through customs, but then we didn't see you. It is very kind and very sweet of you to say these things. Thankyou. At the time I was a bit concerned that they had stopped you for trying to take to much chocolate out of the country (HAHA) , but Aunty Jelly Bean convinced me that you had run underneath us and that we'd just missed you. Never mind, it was an emotional thing saying good bye, we both thoroughly enjoyed your visit with us.

To your Mum and Dad
Dear Mr and Mrs LamLam
My apologies for not using your proper last name but your daughter has affectionately become known to us as Lamlam, so unfortunately, you therefore are now known as Mr and Mrs LamLam. I will try and use your proper name in future, my apologies.
I just wanted to say that Janet is a most courteous and pleasant person to have as a house guest. She is helpful and always cheerful, not to mention very adventurous. There was not one thing that we put in front of her to eat, that she didn't like. In fact she ate everything, and then some! I'm sure you must have saved lots of money while she was away as I have 3 children and I have never seen anyone eat as much as LamLam (HAHA, just kidding) This is why you will see me cooking on many of the photo's she has brought back with her. Every minute I was home I had to be cooking to keep her content! :) :) No seriously, she is a very nice person and is welcome in our home anytime. She is a credit to you both and I am sure you are very proud of her, as she is of the two of you. She must now put her head down and seriously look for a job and get back into the real world as I'm afraid we spoiled her terribly over here and again, I apologies for that. We just couldn't help ourselves, we had so much fun taking part in a few of her crazy adventures in NZ. Anyway, thankyou for sharing her with us over this Christmas period, I send her back, hopefully a little wiser about the world and its wonders, and trust that she will settle now and find that path to success and happiness that she deserves. My regards to you both.
Lamlam, again, thankyou for being part of our family and I hope we didn't scare you too much. When you first arrived I thought you might not enjoy all of our habits but you fitted in perfectly and we enjoyed your company. Take care of yourself and start saving for your next trip, maybe you can bring your little sister or brother, if they learn they're English!

Sincerely
Uncle Dave & Aunty Janet

***************************

This email (fully adapted from original) has driven me into tears - so warm. We met in New Zealand in July 2001, and became friends since then. Being treated so well as if I'm their daughter, I'm so lucky to have them during my time in NZ. Really awesome memories.
