事情是這樣的…
大學畢業後我留在系上當了兩年的研究助理
我的老闆當時是出道沒多久的博士
常常可以聽到他說一些同學的糗事
最後的結論常常是:"不要以為博士就不會…."
或是"唸到博士你班上的同學也都是博士班學生…
博士到處都是 沒有什麼了不起…."
我喜歡他的論點
因為基本上唸書唸到博士
就跟種花種成精
或是有好手藝的廚師是一樣的:
你有某種意願做一件事
(不論是因為興趣或是名利的動機)
投入時間後(做得比一般玩票性質的人久)
所得到的一個頭銜
那有什麼好特別自負或驕傲的!?
很幸運的
當我進入我的program開始我的"高等教育"(sarcastic!!)
唯一的一位同屆同學—Jon也是有這樣的想法的人
物以類聚地
我們很快地便成為好朋友
我們的上一屆 program也只有收兩個學生
其中一個在我們進來的那一年轉學了
剩下的那位孤單老人
就是最近剛拿到學位的韓國學長(正港的博士!!)
他在無所選擇的狀況下 只好和我以及Jon混在一起
韓國學長某方面是嚴肅的人
常常告誡Jon和我:"You two don’t act like kids."
或是"behave yourselves….We are doctoral students."
我們的反應通常是恥笑學長像個老人
然後對於博士學生的身分撂下一句:"So what?"
不過近朱者赤 近墨者黑
在我和Jon三年的薰陶下
學長有時也不熟練的跟我們開起玩笑
或是湊合著說白痴話….
以下的e-mails是最近因為要找時間聚餐產生的
我想留下來 但存在信箱裡沒意思

Before getting Jon's message I got an email from Dr. Frank. He asked
Drs. Reckase and Dr. Becker to go out for dinner with me on this Friday
(16th). Dr. Reckase will come from Cyprus on Wednesday. So it will take
some time to arrange the Friday dinner with three faculties.
So here are my suggestions. If you don't mind joining Friday dinner, I
will ask Dr. Frank if I can invite you guys. I am pretty sure that it is
ok with him and two other faculties. Or just get together for ourselves
as usual. In the second case, I prefer the last week of May (26-31). For
this week, it looks that I have a lot of things on my hands.
Let me know about your idea.
By the way I am going to leave to Iowa at the first week of June (maybe
June 3rd or 4th).

Yes. I think Meng-Jia is right. Yasuo told me once that after you graduate you will meet with your committee for dinner one last time. At this time, they will ask you a secret question. If you get the secret question correct you go home. If you don't, they will eat you for dinner =) ……;0
I think you should have dinner with your committee and enjoy their company and wisdom. We should get together the last week of May (where you can tell us the secret question they asked you hehe).
