現代人要結婚，都會選擇和自己愛的人結為連理，但也有些地方的人要被迫和不喜歡的人在一起。印度日前就發生一起事件，一名女子被家人逼迫嫁給不愛的人，她就在婚禮前一天和男友私奔，新郎直到抵達女方家中準備迎娶時才知道此事，事後經過協議，新郎只好和新娘的妹妹結婚。此事曝光後掀起外界熱議。
據《News18》報導，此事發生在印度北方邦菲羅扎巴德區，該對新人本來訂在12月18日結婚。沒想到女方為了和男友私奔，竟然在前一天將家人們的飲品中動手腳，害得所有人當場失去知覺，接著她就將家中大約15萬盧比（約新台幣5.5萬元）的現金和珠寶帶走，並和男友一起離開該地區。
等到新娘的家人清醒之後，完全沒有想到竟會被如此對待，甚至有些人因為喝了女子給的飲料還住院了。到了婚禮當天，新郎準備來迎娶時。女子家人才告訴對方這件事，並提議讓女子的妹妹來頂替新娘的位子，經過雙方長輩商議，新郎最後同意改娶新娘妹妹。
事後新郎氣得對新娘提告，女方家人也無法原諒女子的行為，同樣到了當地派出所報案，但報導並未透露女子最後的下場。此事曝光後掀起當地民眾熱議，不少人表示「當時現場一定相當混亂」、「真不敢相信家人醒來有多錯愕」、「嫁給喜歡的人很重要，但也是難為了新娘妹妹」。
