很多年以後，豬熊柔學會了上網，並且有了夜半與人閒聊的習慣。但她從來不開麥克風，而是只用文字與人對談。豬熊柔打字的指法已練得和舌卷一樣快。至於錯字，你知道的，有時你說話也會不小心咬到舌頭。
若話窗中那人堅持要說話，豬熊柔就戴著耳機，任那人說得再大聲也只能是耳語。
豬熊柔不知道該怎麼告訴對方，她開始聽到幻音。比如一些細微的貓過或一些風吹的葉落，常會被她聽成有人的低泣。更多時候，它們會被聽成窗外的嘶喊，從隔一段距離的地方傳來。然後豎起耳朵更仔細地分辨，低泣與嘶吼都是假的。豬熊柔想，人腦的功能真奇怪呵，也懂得憑經驗而歸類，或憑經驗而偷懶。
豬熊柔頓了頓，問話窗裡那人：你聽到有個人在說話嗎？
那人誤會了豬熊柔的意思，以為豬熊柔尋他開心，便說：除了你，我身邊沒有旁人。除了你，沒有人能用文字表達出聲音的節奏。如果你覺得這就是你的聲音，我便聽到有人在說話。
豬熊柔惱了，節奏這詞是她與那人對話中最常用的字，豬熊柔把那解釋成下麵條時的時機與手勢。但那詞卻不適宜在這時刻被用來開玩笑。聲音一出現，豬熊柔心裡都要一震，像血流踢到石頭。
幻聽，豬熊柔一下想不起英文叫甚麼。不知怎麼告訴那人事情的嚴重性。幻聽總比幻視好吧。看到個影又看不到個身，比聲音近得可怕。想到這裡，豬熊柔渾身一哆嗦。她暫時不去想那問題，也不去與那人爭辯聲音的事，改問那人在做甚麼。
話窗裡那人若無其事地答：在看球，在看球員下半身的反應。
bulge，那人用了這樣一個詞。害豬熊柔找了一下網上字典。她可從來不知道，有人看足球是專看這種事的。那人聳了聳肩，再給了一個球星的名字，ballack，懂吧？
樹桐？豬熊柔點點頭，又搖搖頭。那人繼續說，這個ballack是最容易有反應的。是嗎？那人傳來了一個視頻檔案，一分多鐘。ballack在球賽結束後高舉雙手過頭拍掌。你看，注意看。
這樣也被你發現。豬熊柔真沒好氣。不就像看天鵝湖時老顧著數台上有幾根大腿嗎。
那人搖頭澄清，才不，不是我發現的。是網上一群不知甚麼人有這種怪癖，專門捉下這種鏡頭。不只是足球，還有短跑、健身；當然，最容易的是摔角。那是高中的回憶吶。那人喜孜孜地補充。
後來，豬熊柔把電腦關上。想著要怎麼進行一次長長長長的冬眠。
後來，豬熊柔寫了封信給聖誕老人。老人就給了她這樣的回信。
Dear yawara,
Warmest thanks for your letter. I was really pleased to hear from
you.
I’ll be going through your letter with my elves and making a precise
note of everything in the big Korvatunturi books. My scribe elves are
very careful and hard-working, and they write down every single request.
It may not always be possible to meet every request at once, but the
main thing is for everything to be recorded.
The scribe elves then issue instructions to the workshop elves, tellingthem what presents to make for you and other children. Then when the presents are ready, the quick dispatch elves do them up in beautiful fancy parcels. They are then ready and waiting for the big, exciting feast of Christmas.
As you can well imagine, we’re almost rushed off our feet here at
Korvatunturi with Christmas only just round the corner. The elves have
101 things to see to. Sometimes they’re so busy that they have to be
reminded to come and eat the Missis’ steaming porridge. But she makes
sure they take their porridge breaks.
Which is just as well, because no one can work well on an empty tummy.
The elves may tire at a crucial moment.
Thank you for your letter. I’ll pass it on to the scribes straight away so that the workshop can start on your presents.
