The ruling D-P-P’s presidential candidate has stated his intentions to rectify the country’s name and enact a new constitution if elected next March.
According to Frank Xie ... neither move is aimed at altering the cross-strait status quo.
Xie said that he believes he will need two terms in office to complete his aims, but expects that at least 70-percent of voters will support the two moves ... that he claims are critical to the pursuit of making Taiwan a normal country.
The D-P-P candidate said that the push for name rectification is not an attempt to irk Beijing, but part of the government’s efforts to transform Taiwan into a normal country.
