今天這場比賽，是厄文繼去年季後賽後首次回到波士頓出賽，然而重返前東家主場，不少綠衫軍球迷依舊記得他當初把球隊搞得烏煙瘴氣，氣氛不佳的事蹟，因此當他踏進球場時，無情的噓聲四處響起。
厄文賽後受訪時承認，自己有感受到塞爾提克球迷的「熱情」，並說：「我知道在我職業生涯的剩餘時間裡，來到這裡都會是這樣，這就像被甩的女朋友，希望得到一個解釋，解釋我為何離開，但仍然希望收到訊息，我的想法就是『這很有趣』。」
