九月二日，日本代表在美國軍艦密蘇里號軍艦上，正式向聯合國代表投降並簽署投降書；
【日本降書】〈見臺灣歷史全集〉
同時，遠東戰區盟軍統帥道格拉斯‧麥克阿瑟將軍隨即公布：給日本帝國的『第一號命令』（General Order No.1；此命令是在1945/8/12由杜魯門發給麥克阿瑟元帥，日本投降後再由麥克阿瑟元帥公佈並發給日本及同盟國到各受降地受降。目前全世界只剩下『臺灣被蔣介石受降後至今尚未退出外』，其他地區全數都已經退出，甚至於包括北越）：（以下簡稱「第一號命令」）
【註：為什麼美國會把臺灣、澎湖群島指定由蔣介石來接受日本高級將領的投降及繳械呢？就是因為前述的一九四三年六月二十四日的秘密協議的原故，此時開始執行瓜分臺灣，見秘密協議最後一段「、、、並謂俟中國準備完妥之後，美即可退出。」是不是安排得很好？欺騙所有盟國盟軍！？】
第一號命令通知中國蔣介石委員長，派軍到北越、臺灣、澎湖，接受在當地的日本軍隊的投降和繳械；中國蔣介石派盧漢到北越、派陳儀到臺灣，接受當地的日軍投降及繳械，美軍果然依照「秘密協議」乖乖的退出臺灣。
