The Dreamers

how do u distinguish dream from reality?

sometimes, while we're dreaming, we dont even know, we think we're in the reality until we really wake up.

it seems teenagers & youngsters always confuse dream and reality. according to my impression, in the 60s & 70s, some of the youngsters, they said they wanted peace & love but not war, they were against war, against authority, against their parents, they said "make love! no war!" they thought they had a clear mind abt the violence of war, but then they turned out to be sex obsessed, perhaps, love or sex helps them to escape from the real world.

love, so, love makes u grow, love makes u jealous, love makes u selfish, love makes u sacrifice, love makes u generous, or love makes u narrow-minded? love can really fix everything? it can replace war, or it's a start of another fight? love should make u feel complete but not give u a feeling of lost.

in "the dreamers", u see the endless freshness & energy among the three youngsters. i felt so great while seeing them running in louvre, only young ppl would dare do so regardless the consequences, reminds me a little of my teenage. they talk abt cinema, politics, the whole world, they play, they laugh, they cry, they have sex, they explore the human body, they love one another, they are absurd, they may be living in their dreams, the whole "realistic" outside world is dreaming out there, power, violence, war...

i started to be a bit dull when they three run out of money, being naked or half-naked all the time, seem nothing they can really do except some shallow talk abt life, perhaps, that's the youth, as we're confused, what we got are ideas, passion and anger.

anyway, this film helps me to think abt what are this world, dream & realistic worlds, or they're just no different, or life is just like a film, it depends on how u act.

there's never a definite answer abt life, but we would think over abt it, from time to time.

the character i like most is Theo, u can see some kind of deepness in his eyes, with a mixture of both positive and negative feeling, but u cant tell what exactly it is. isabell is erratic, but she's still uncomparable to the charm of catherine in "jules et jim". jean-pierre leaud appeared in the film, but so old, sadly.

one thing remarkable is the music in the film, jimi hendrix, janis joplin, the doors... is just brilliant.
