Liquid cooling has become the industry standard. However, off-the-shelf solutions rarely meet the specific spatial and thermal requirements of modern engineering.   • Copper (e.g., C110): Offers nearly double the thermal conductivity of aluminum. While heavier and more expensive to machine, copper is the go-to material for extreme heat loads, such as high-power laser diodes and medical imaging equipment.

Rigorous Quality Control and Testing

In custom liquid cold plate fabrication, a single internal leak can destroy a multi-million-dollar system. Therefore, stringent quality assurance is non-negotiable.
Reputable manufacturers employ Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to verify critical dimensions and surface finishes. More importantly, every custom cold plate must undergo comprehensive leak testing. This typically involves hydrostatic pressure testing (pressurizing the plate with water) or helium mass spectrometry, which can detect microscopic leaks down to 1×10−91×109 mbar·l/s. Surface treatments like chromate conversion or anodizing are also applied to prevent corrosion and ensure long-term compatibility with various coolants.
