Dining in North America is never inexpensive. Comparing to other big cities in North America, Vancouver is less expensive, however, for a poor, budget-conscious backpacker like me, it’s still a big cost.
My last day in Vancouver, my friend Tommy took Ken and me to this nice, small Japanese restaurant on Thurlow and Davie streets in downtown called Towa Young. This is a very small restaurant, like many small ones in Osaka. There are only a few tables and some stools facing the windows or walls. It’s more like a “take-out” oriented restaurant.
My meal is not special, you can easily get this in Taiwan or Japan. However, the taste is very “Taiwanese” which is what I like. I like Sichuan food, Italian food, French food, Japanese food…but in Taiwanese style. I finished all my lunch!
PS. The lunch special is only CAN$ 7, including a cup of nice MISO soup.
