Useful words I : joining words

Some suggestions in the main body of the essays. It is important to signal clearly how the main ideas are connected together by using suitable joining words. [Note: DON'T ABUSE them!]

[Cause/effect]: as, as a result, consequently, hence, thus, therefore
[Comparison]: Likewise, similarly
[Contrast]: although, but, besides, however, nevertheless, on the other hand, on the contrary, in contrast, otherwise, while, and yet
[addition]: also, and, in addition, too
[examples]: for example, for instance, in other words, in effect, in this case, in particular
[conclusion]: accordingly, in brief, in short, to sum up
[time]: as soon as, at the same time, as long as(use participles), meanwhile, secondly, first of all.
