普選結束，紐約市各地投票站在6日投票當天問題頻發，引發多位政府和民選官員抨擊選舉委員會(Board of Election)辦事不力，造成選民無法順利投票；布碌崙(布魯克林)區長亞當斯(Eric Adams)7日召開記者會，提出「五點計畫」(Five-Point Plan)，要求當局採取措施，改善選舉過程。
7日上午在布碌崙區選舉辦公室(Brooklyn Borough of Elections office)外，亞當斯表示，選舉當天，他到多處投票站視察，初步估計將近50個投票站出現嚴重狀況，包括延遲開站、掃描器故障和選民苦等兩小時才能投票等情況，讓他深感不滿。
亞當斯說，選民都有各自的工作和責任，不可能全天守在投票站等待投票，他更發現部分選民因無法久候而離開、放棄投票；他表示「投票原應是美好的一件事」，但選舉當天的情況「相信已對部分選民帶來不好的經驗」。
亞當斯說，美國在選舉過程中依舊使用老派的做法，「不僅在科技上沒有做出改變，應引導民眾往更高科技發展的負責人想法也一成不變」，在選舉課題上一直無法取得創新；他更抨擊選舉委員會執行董事萊恩(Michael Ryan)把投票問題歸咎天氣因素的說法，「令人完全無法接受」。
針對投票站和投票過程，亞當斯提出「五點計畫」，希望在下次屆選舉前全面解決問題；他要求當局立即在紐約州和市內展開仔細調查，尋出根源，並加強投票站工作人員面對機器發生突發狀況的應變能力，例如修理故障的掃描器；另應允許選民提前投票，向專家探討新科技進行投票測試，以及和向相關人員取得同意改進問題的承諾。
