王建民和費雪王牌防護員、外號「K2」的日籍菅野惠介（Keisuke Kanno）已合作5年以上，2人溝通無礙，這次建仔開刀復健，多虧「K2桑」每天5小時的細心照料。
合作5年的貼身防護員
王建民加盟洋基隊時前幾年參加小聯盟春訓，球團發現他潛力十足，2004年就有爭取大聯盟第5號先發的潛力，但發現他經常春訓報到時的體能狀況都尚未完全準備好，因此2005年季前，王建民在經紀公司安排下首度到費雪，接受K2的貼身調教。
王建民果然在05年春訓先發3場都未失分，讓洋基相當滿意，建仔體會季前訓練的重要以及K2的功力，當時洋基5大先發都是大投手，建仔春訓後先回3A待命，4月底第5號左投萊特受傷，王建民被緊急拉上去後表現一鳴驚人，自此待在大聯盟平步青雲，最大關鍵就是05年的季前到費雪的扎實自主訓練。
K2「經手」過蘭迪強森等頂級球星，他特別讚賞王建民，「我們是在他尚未上大聯盟就合作，王後來連2年拿19勝，回到這裡也絲毫未見他的驕氣，沒有大牌架子。」
K2還笑說，費雪1週只開5天，王建民常要求週末假日也要來訓練，讓他不知如何是好，但也從此肯定王建民的認真態度。K2表示，從王和國民簽約那天開始，就已和國民防護員坎茲（Lee Kuntz）聯繫，清楚說明王在費雪的復健進度，以便能銜接得上。
道奇隊台灣投手郭泓志，05年也是和王建民一起首度到費雪，這幾年，小小郭尤其遇手肘開刀後也都回來接受K2的細心照料，王、郭在大聯盟發光，K2桑也算是幕後功臣之一。

Keisuke Kanno, DPT, CSCS (goes by K2) is a licensed physical therapist and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. K2 graduated from Keio University in Japan with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemistry. After his arrival to the United States, K2 earned his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy at Duke University Graduate School and Doctor of Physical Therapy from Duke University Medical School. K2 has worked as a physical therapist and a personal trainer for Championship Auto Racing Team (CART) drivers for several years since 1999 while traveling with the racing teams to the major cities in US, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, and his home country, Japan.
K2 is a full time physical therapist at Fischer Sports Physical Therapy and Conditioning while he also works locally as a part-time personal therapist/trainer for a CART driver, Adrian Fernandez. In order to help the patients achieve their ultimate rehabilitation goals, K2 practices functional physical therapy rehabilitation to the wide range of patient population at our clinic with an effort to make their rehabilitation sessions as personalized, effective, and fun as possible.
