If I were a rose
I would have the sweetest scent and softest petals.
If I were a rose
I would be the perfect shade of red.
If I were a rose
I would have no thorns;
I would not hurt the one I love.

If I were a rose
I would shed each petal slowly
so that I linger in your hand timelessly.
And with each petal shed,
I would sigh with a relief of knowing
of all the gardens in the world,
I blossomed for you …
