The Two Towers

Went to see “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers” today, and it’s as good as the first one, and yet it’s very different from the first part. In the “The Fellowship of The Ring”, I saw the male friendship, loyalty, and most importantly, how individual courage stands against the most devastating forces of darkness, and how one fight with the temptation and desires within. What’s the deepest dark secret within our heart?
But in the sequel to the Fellowship, the movie talks about good against evil with the Fellowship facing unimaginable armies and deception during their quest, while discover the untapped strength of their people. Together they stand against the powerful forces spreading from the Two Towers.
I have found that the Two Towers is more character driven than The Fellowship, with great characters that are given stronger and richer sense, such as Aragorn, Legolas..and even the new character Gollum.
If I remember correctly, this classic trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien was written based on how the author viewed the Industrial Revolution. So you can see the Hobbits live in a Utopia like Hobbiton, and in contrary, the 10,000 Uruk-Hai, the army of evil, are bred and mass-produced iron monsters! Many have talked about the special effects this movie use, but I think the most amazing part about both movies is how an epic/imagined story of Tolkien being brought to life on screen. The mythos, landscapes, cultures and creatures Tolkien created are so vast and detailed in scope, so I admire that Peter Jackson, the director, can produce the necessary level of sophistication and bring the powerful and palpable life to us.
