今年是他過世二十週年.
在這個地處太平洋邊的小島上似乎
沒什麼人還記得這件事
對我們來說真的是一種損失.
在巴布狄蘭登上葛萊美獎的同時.
誰會想起另一個巴布呢?
狄蘭因為在那混亂的60.70年代裡面
為民權高聲吶喊而受讚揚
又有誰想起巴布馬利呢?
這或許就是聚焦.一種政治正確
或者說.文化霸權下的選擇吧.
生在牙買加.身為有色人種.活在貧民窟.處在60.70年代.
他實在有太多太多走入惡的可能.殺人.搶劫.販毒.偷竊
可是他沒有.
他也可以有太多理所當然可以去辱罵.灰色的.陰霾的創作
可是他沒有.
更甚至於還寫出No woman no cry這種勵志的歌曲.
雷鬼之父---某些人給他的尊稱.不過我想在這裡有多少人會嘗試理解他音樂內的訴求.或是更偏執的以為雷鬼就是前一陣子來台灣的雷鬼歌手夏奇所表現出來的那樣.膚淺的熱情和淫亂.
時光慢慢走過.他的死去也過了二十年了.這島嶼上不曾認識他的.我想也不會再去嘗試.在最保守的年代死去.卻在這最多樣化的時代無法復活.
這毋寧是我們的一種損失.
