一枚寬度跨越世界上最高建築高度的小行星將在下週與地球近距離相遇，美國國度航空暨太空總署（NASA）猜測，這枚小行星7482（1994 PC1）將於18日擦過地球。
但是美國約翰霍普金斯大學（Johns Hopkins University）應用物理學嘗試室首席行星科學家夏波（Nancy Chabot）表示，約有2萬5000枚近地小行星的寬度至少到達152公尺，一旦撞擊地球，可能會具有「毀滅性」。
已知的小行星跨越100萬枚，個中很多以近距離掠過地球司空見慣，且絕大大都不值得擔心。舉例來講，NASA透露表現，這兩天最少有5枚小行星擦過地球，此中一枚的巨細與巴士相當，另3枚的體積與一棟衡宇無異。
