今年美國總統大選，希拉蕊、川普兩方「口水多過茶」，讓許多美國主流社會選民意興闌珊，儘管如此，但美國的華人選民倒是熱情澎湃，在過去大選前所未見。
法廣網站報導，美國約有400萬華人，約近半有投票權，在1.9億選民中比率微不足道，因此華人選民從不是雙方陣營拉攏的主要對象。傳統上，華人選民多支持關注少數族裔權益的民主黨，但法廣指出，這次卻有眾多華人選民狂熱支持共和黨的川普，紐約有數百名華人選民到曼哈頓的川普大廈舉行造勢；洛杉磯還有華人組成助選團，更租飛機在天空拉出支持川普的標語布條。
有評論稱，這些支持川普的華人多為中產階級，希望在8年的歐巴馬執政後能有所改變，他們認為，川普路線能保證「機會平等」，而非一昧追求「結果平等」，並相信川普能讓美國重返榮耀，再次成為「充滿機會的美國」。也因此，華人選民在這次大選分成兩方陣營，在美國的中文網站上，隨時可以看見雙方的網路論戰。
