Wang Lee-Hom Treats Jay Chou as Strong Rival

“Jay is a strong rival to me in the singing sphere” said Taiwanese pop singer Wang Lee-Hom in an interview.

The singer showed up at the 13rd Channel V Mandarin Songs Awards Presentation on Thursday evening in Shanghai.

Taiwan-based stars included Taiwan girl trio “S.H.E”, Ahshin, Wang Lee-Hom and his amorous girlfriend Sherry Chang Hui-Mei (or Zhang Huimei) and Hong Kong well-received singer Eason Chan appeared at the gala to walk the red carpet.

Eason Chan and Sherry Chang grabbed the Best Male and Female Artist Awards that night.

Wang Lee-Hom, also credited as Alexander Wang, is a Taiwanese-American singer, actor and songwriter under Sony Music Taiwan. Having eleven Mandarin albums to his credit, Lee-Hom has not yet produced an English album but remains as one of the main songwriters and producers for Sony Music Taiwan. He also owns Homeboy Studios both in Taiwan and Boston.

Jay Chou is the No.1 pop singer in the region, releasing nine albums. He also starred in the blockbuster “Curse of the Golden Flower” by veteran director Zhang Yimou.
