Hey, it’s Stampede here in Calgary.
Yes, the cow town.
What’s so exciting about it? Heck, it’s Calgary, the cowboys and cowgirls town. Therefore, Stampede would’ve just meant the world to Calgarians.
Anyway, today, this year, I’ve made a decision to see some rodeo shows. I’ve been in Calgary for so many years but I’ve never actually got a chance to see it. I am feeling ashamed of myself though.
Finally, the chance came up to me today. My friend got this ticket to this rodeo event and of course, I went. It’s not in the Stampede center; it is actually around the Bowness park.
All right, here comes the thing.
The first second I stepped into the place, this white big dude asked me..”you want to be in a competition? We need 2 more people.” I was there with my friend so it’d be perfect for us. I took the authority for my friend and I went “ OF COURSE!” At this time, I have no idea what the competitions are.
After that, we found out that instead of watching a rodeo show, we are one of the contestants to be in the rodeo!!!!!!!!! Isn’t it crazy or what? We needed to ride horses across the lines and picked up eggs, grab a calf to let our only female teammate to ride across the line, ride a horse back and forth as fast and safe as we can, and the last one, rope the calf. Holly, these animals are HUGE!! It’s just fun and dangerous at the same time. I saw this dude just fell off the horse in front of me and he was totally out. He got carried out with EMS or something. Damn..that was my first game and I saw that. It’s quite…discouraging? And shit, a baby cow is like 1000+lbs? It’s just so hard to grab them especially when they are scared and running. Ppl got kicked by that……
Anyway, I could’ve written more but it’s 3 am in the morning so…
Oh yeah, we made 3 out 4 games’ finals…our white teammates are just good.
