Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Teachers should be paid according to how much their students learn. Give specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

I extremely disagree that teachers should be paid according to how much their students learn because it is a wrong standard of teachers’ salary, and it may decrease teachers’ enthusiasm. Moreover, it is a little snobbish.

First of my opinion, I consider that the students’ grades could not be means the teachers’ care and it would cause many problems if teachers paid according to their students quantity or quality of learning. For example, some teachers may cheat or look over highly at students’ points to provoke their salary and ignore the students’ real needs. Otherwise, it would lose the meaning of education under this inappropriate policy.

Moreover, I think that teachers’ work is not similar to sales’. By doing so, it would decline teachers’ enthusiasm for teaching. For example, they teach time to time no matter what the students with high intelligence or low ability, and the only propose is to make students understand what they need to learn. Therefore, I believe that teachers’ enthusiasm would be extinct in this situation with unfair judgment.

In summary, I absolutely disagree that teachers should be paid according to how much their students learn because of the reasons that I mentioned above. It could not only be a snobbish idea, but also cause many problems, such as cheat and unfairness.
