懷孕要防弓形蟲 醫：避免接觸貓糞
【台灣醒報記者蔡岳宏綜合報導】日前民進黨籍北市候選人姚文智因妻子懷孕將貓送人一事，引起貓奴眾怒，針對家人懷孕是否該將貓送人？根據美國疾病管制局建議，懷孕婦女需注意弓形蟲感染
好康活動省錢妙招，避免新生兒出現心智發育遲緩等現象，嚴重感染更可能流產或出生後死亡。堪薩斯州立大學臨床獸醫教授尼爾遜指出，懷孕不必把貓送人，惟懷孕婦女勿再領養或接觸流浪貓、不要處理貓糞、勤洗手，若不幸感染應尋求醫師協助。
根據《進步日報》報導，弓形蟲是透過食入貓糞污染的食物、未經煮熟的肉品而感染。貓是弓形蟲的常見宿主，主要透過獵食生肉，或是接觸汙染的土壤感染。若貓遭受感染，養貓人士在清理家貓的糞便時，手易沾染蟲卵，用餐時不甚食入就有感染的風險。若人類不幸感染弓形蟲症，大部分患者不會有明顯症狀，少部份出現淋巴結腫大、有倦怠感、發燒、喉嚨痛等症狀。
《美國疾管局》網站指出，若孕婦在懷孕前三個月初次受到感染，會有傳染給胎兒的危險性，但如果婦女遠在懷孕前被感染，就沒有傳染給胎兒的風險。新生兒罹患先天性弓蟲病後，出生時85 %沒有症狀，不過幾個月後，會開始出現視力不良、學習障礙和心智發育遲緩等現象。若發生腦部感染，可能會有水腦症、小腦症、視網膜脈絡炎及癲癇發作等後遺症。嚴重感染更可能流產或出生後死亡。
「婦女懷孕時大可不必把貓送人。」尼爾遜教授《PHYS》專訪時建議，懷孕婦女勿再領養或接觸流浪貓，易增加罹病風險；要確保貓砂每日清理，但懷孕婦女應避免親自清理貓砂，若不得已，應穿戴拋棄式手套，並勤洗手；進行園藝工作或其它可能接觸到被野貓糞便污染東西的工作時，也要配戴手套；家貓則完全限制外出，且餵食乾飼料，避免生食；蔬果應清洗乾淨，肉品要確實煮熟。
尼爾遜教授提醒，若婦女懷孕期間不幸感染，應尋求醫師協助，接受積極治療，並監控胎兒健康。針對弓形蟲感染婦女是否能進行哺乳？美國疾管局指出，婦女感染弓形蟲初期，乳房可能發炎、或表皮出現傷口，確實可能在哺乳過程中感染幼兒，因此不建議哺乳；此外，未經高溫殺菌的乳品也可能造成弓形蟲感染，母親們應注意。
