《再見女郎》(The Goodbye Girl) - 1977
一個以戲劇為業的女演員（Marsha Mason飾Paula McFadden），在連續被兩任同樣是演員的丈夫與男友拋棄之後，帶著拮据的經濟、滿身的傷痕與一個10歲的早熟女兒，又再遇到了另一個自負的男演員，那還真是「捉襟見肘」啊！
自私的前男友將公寓轉租給Elliot Garfield（Richard Dreyfuss飾），一開始的緊張關係與敵對狀態，與女主角神經質的自我防衛，在男主角的風趣魅力、女兒的有心撮合之後，發展出一段大都會裡單身男女共同對抗惡劣的環境與相互扶持的溫馨浪漫喜劇。
笑中帶淚的情節，搭配動人的經典電影同名歌曲〈The Goodbye Girl〉，成為當時名噪一時的最佳約會電影。
〈The Goodbye Girl〉是由知名樂團 "Bread" 成員之一的 David Gates 在單飛後的作品，他同時也是一位優秀鍵盤手、創作者、製作人，合作的藝人從 Chuck Berry、Elvis Presley 到 Boy George，都展現了他多方面的才華以及跨越諸多音樂類型的可能性；在 "Bread" 時期更有許多知名的暢銷單曲，如：〈If〉、〈It Don't Matter To Me〉、〈Baby I'm-A Want You〉、〈Guitar Man〉等等；從事個人事業之後的 David Gates 還是延續他擅長的 "Rockabilly"、"Soft Rock" 的註冊商標，在 1977 年寫下這首〈The Goodbye Girl〉達到了顛峰，歌曲也跟著電影的賣座而進入了 Top 20。

當最後一幕 Paula 終究不敵宿命的安排，必須再與 Elliot 說再見時，影片底緩緩升起 David Gates 乾淨、純情地幾乎令人心碎的〈The Goodbye Girl〉…

Marsha Mason 在劇中情路坎坷的遭遇，在這時推到了令人無法承受的頂點，男人們一個個自命不凡、恰似飛鴻踏雪泥地向你展現迷人的藝術家氣質、當然骨子底還有流浪的血液… 戲外她與原著劇本 Neil Simon 因戲結為連理，最後亦是仳離，當真人生與戲皆是如此萬般無奈地任天作弄？
