Today i went to my buddy family’s home. My buddy family’s host, Mr. Han, invited me to go to his house. ACtually there was a memorial ceremony for his father. The whole family, his own family, his sister’s family and his brothers all gathered together in his house.
I went there with my roommate, Chin-man, and of course with some snacks for Mr. Han’s children, Sang-ji and Sang-min.
Their house is really large (as Korea is really a country, not just a city as Hong Kong). It is as double size as my home in Hong Kong. Of course, they can speak a little english, otherwise, we can’t communicate.
The ceremony was interesting. First, all people bestowed towards the wooden board of his father. Then, they did it again one by one.... from the ceremony i noticed that korean people pay much attention in respecting their ancestors. Confucius philosophy is rooted in korean culture. It is much more important and still reflect its spirit in everyday life.
After the ceremony, we had dinner together. I get used to have spicy things here, so Kimchi is nothing to me. But most interesting thing is the food. They ate the raw chestnut!!! anyway, every country has their own culture!!!
