Dancing, singing… to celebrate the arrival of this year's Beaujolais Nouveau, wine enthusiasts are poised to celebrate starting at midnight tonight. An increasingly popular wine in Asia, Beaujolais imports have reached the point in Taiwan where it can be considered a fad.

This year Taiwan's wine vendors are importing more than 600,000 bottles of Beaujolais. For example, this year RT-Mart not only boasts the country's cheapest Beaujolais at just NT$235, but has also imported as many as 150,000 bottles. But because the wine has to be drunk young, isn't RT-Mart worried about selling it all before the wine gets spoiled?

Always released on the third Thursday of November, the bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau started their journey from small villages in France to every corner of the world weeks before Wednesday's stroke of midnight. This year, Geant and Carrefour have bottles at around NT$400 to NT$500, while Tesco, which has ordered less, is selling it at a slightly higher price. Tesco says it is not overstocking on the wine, so as to sell higher quality wines. To attract customers, the wholesalers are extending their business hours on Wednesday and are even offering free samplings at midnight, joining a host of other Beaujolais celebrations worldwide.

今年台灣進口量超過六十萬瓶，大賣場就佔了不少。例如,大潤發不只標榜售價最低，一瓶只要新台幣235元，而且大潤發一口氣進了十五萬瓶，但薄酒萊存放時間不長，難道不擔心庫存壓力嗎。

照往例,薄酒萊會在11月第三個星期四上市，薄酒萊從法國的小鄉村，到現在全世界每個角落都在期待星期三午夜的同步上午活動，愛買家樂福量較少，價格都在四五百元之間。特易購單價偏高數量最少，特易購表示，一方面考慮庫存壓力，其次是希望提供品質較高的薄酒萊。
