You said you wanted to get together with old friends, to talk about the good old days,

so without hesitation, we sent out invitations on your behalf.

 

You said you wanted to make new friends, to enlarge your circle of friends,

so again, without hesitation, we invited our own friends to befriend you.

 

You also said you wanted to get drunk, and forget about all the unhappy things,

so we were all ready to get drunk with you.

 

Your requests led to 2 two-day event that we planned weeks in advance, making all the reservations.

All you have to do is to show up, to be there.

We made all these efforts, going through all the troubles, without a word, becuase you were our friend.

 

The evening before the weekend, you told us you could not make it. Family business.

No apology. Not even a slight sense of guilt.

There we were, old friends around the table, without the person who made it happen,

disoriented, and confused.

 

On Saturday night, I invited you to join us the next day, trying to leave the strange feelings behind.

You said you would be there, and you did show up.

And then you walked away.

 

Away from people who attended on our behalf,

away from people who showed up because they cared,

away from people who thought you were their friend.

 

You are not our friend.

Because you neither see us as friends nor treat us as friends.

 

Friendship takes years to nurture, but sadly, it can be destroyed in an instant.

I know you are suffering great pain, and misery is your best friend.

I genuinely hope that all the negative energy will soon vanish

and you can be genuinely happy in the near future.

 

But I will not be there to witness all these.

For my heart was trampled over, and my mind was blinded by fury.

Good luck, you who used to be my friend.
