Url Dampening, & No. of Links?

I recently received another 'please help' mail from the gentleman named Ian who runs an adventure company in Tanzania (http://www.betheladventure.co.uk ). Ian was worried about the consequence of a variety of issues including indexing and link dampening, and was desperate for help. However, he'd read some pretty misleading articles before, so he had a somewhat confused understanding of the facets at play. Since I think he's perhaps not alone in his frustration and concern, I made a decision to submit the facts of our discussion.

Ian's mail contained a few issues. I have shown each individually below, followed by my reaction.

Q: When I look for the number of backlinks to my site using 'link:www.betheladventure.co.uk', I see only 2-3 results. It appears that only 23 of our backlinks have survived Google's dampening link filter. Is there an occasion delay before they're credited to some site? '

A: Firstly, I think you could have the dampening link filter only a little puzzled. Based on the dampening link filter theory, your links are found and acknowledged by Google, you just do not have the full benefit from them until certain period of time has passed. The dampening url filter (if it exists) does not end links from appearing in Google's results whenever you look for them. (The only reason your backlinks mightn't appear in a Google search is if Google has not yet indexed the pages containing the links.) Also, don't worry too much about such things as the dampening link filter. Should people wish to get more on linklicious vs backlink booster, we know about many online resources you might think about investigating. In the first place, it's not even close to established / acknowledged fact. Several well regarded Search Engine Optimization professionals don't believe in it at all. Moreover, even though it does exist, it only affects those organizations together with the budget to build the large numbers (hundreds or thousands probably) of links reputedly necessary to induce it. That's no problem, if your number of backlinks suddenly increases by 2-0. To study additional information, please check out: linklicious wiki.

And secondly, don't think everything Google informs you. By looking for 'link:www.betheladventure.co.uk', you generally speaking only see a small percentage of actual links to your website. To get fresh information, we recommend you check out: linklicious pro account. The best way to search for links will be to search for just the URL 'www.bethaladventure.co.uk', then to the page that shows next, select 'Find webpages that include the term 'www.bethaladventure.co.uk' .' Once you do it in this way, you'll see all the pages which contain your URL. Generally, the URL is likely to be an energetic link (or at-least it should be, and you should keep these things make it so). Whenever you do this research, you'll see that your website has about 169 links, maybe not 2-3.

Q: Another question is about listed pages (using site:www.betheladventure.co.uk). I understand it is a report of pages which were changed. I'd 32, it went down to 28 and it is down to 26 now today. Do they just keep the pages for monthly or will there be more to the listed pages than I realized?

A: The number of indexed pages is simply the number of pages on your own site that Google 'knows about.' Theoretically, the only time age a page is necessary is if the page is also young*, i.e. Google lions haven't visited it nonetheless, or Google has not updated its catalog. Why the reported number of indexed pages is reducing, I suspect it's merely a temporary change. The amount of leads to Google's searches differs virtually constantly.

*Actually, technically speaking, it has been suggested that Google is not capable of indexing all 11.5 billion pages currently believed to be online (and the 10 million more that are added every day), and that as it indexes new pages, old pages are forced from the index. (This is a really rough description of the theory - if it's happening at all, it's likely to be a lot more complex than this.) If this is happening, it might explain why the number of indexed pages is reducing. A great way to deal with it is to maintain top quality material, to keep generating backlinks, to keep increasing it, and to generate a Google sitemap, although I think it's a long shot. I know there's lots of confusion surrounding these issues, so I hope you have found this exchange beneficial.

Happy indexing!.
