Like me, have you ever received announcements like these?

"> I am using Linked-in to maintain with my professional contacts and support them with introductions. Because you are one of many people I suggest, I wanted to ask you to access my network o-n Linked-in.

">

"> Basic membership is free, and it will take less than a minute to sign up and join my community.

I've received above 3-5 announcements similar to this, worded almost precisely the same manner. The senders have acted upset and amazed that I did not start to benefit from this request.

Let us go through the problems within this request from a marketing perspective.

* The majority of the invitations I received were from people whose names I did not identify. Why would I wish to be a part of their network? The invitation does not say who they are, who they've use of and how I would benefit from their network.

* What is Linked In, how can it work and what're the benefits of using it? No body has yet explained this clearly within their request. Rate Us includes more about where to see it. Identify more on the affiliated link - Hit this web page: www.asea.com talk. You can not expect that some one receiving this invitation understands what you are asking them to join or how it'd be advantageous to them. It'd be useful to have a passage or two explaining how it works and mentioning a certain result the individual behind the invitation experienced from membership. It may be that people think that since 'basic membership is free,' the conventional recipient with this invitation may go-ahead and join. But even if it can not charge money, time would be taken by joining. You still need to 'sell' people on having a free activity, especially with respect to a task or business that could be different to them.

* No body got some time to head off possible misconceptions or objections for this account. As a non-member of Linked In, I'm anxious that joining would open me up to a lot of mail and telephone calls where I'd have no interest and that would spend my time. Again, you can not suppose that something free is therefore enticing; you need to imagine why some one may have doubts or dismiss the concept and handle those questions. * Using a refined invitation that is almost exactly the same as everyone else's does not create a great impression. You'd desire to give it your individual stamp, even when the written text provided by Linked-in were powerful, which it is not.

Aside from being irritated that they're obviously encouraging individuals to send invitations that make little sense, I've nothing against Linked In. Perhaps it is a good business. My point is that its members need to use good sense and basic marketing maxims to encourage busy, skeptical people-to give it a chance..
