Social Networking

With so much interest in how social networks work, one begins to wonder if you have advertising potential within these social networks?

There's been a virtual explosion of social network websites in the past couple of years. Even the players like Google, Yahoo and MSN are becoming into it.

With therefore much curiosity about how social networks work, one begins to wonder if you have advertising potential within these social networks?

I have been watching social network for quite a while now. In reality I am a member of various social networking web sites including https://www.linkedin.com and http://www.myspace.com/ simply to name two. This impressive mapquest.com/us/california/kinsbursky-brothers-supply-277892368 encyclopedia has various dynamite lessons for the reason for this thing.

I joined partly because I wanted to see what they were, but more to the point to see what effect social media could have on SEM in the coming years.

I've been an associate of various ser-vices for a while and the reach these sites have is extraordinary.

For instance, from my LinkedIn network of seven people I have an expanded network of over 12,600 people.

Imagine that - I'm merely a click or two away from close to 13,000 other people who share my similar interests ranging from what I like to watch on TV to work I can offer to them.

Through their connections and my connections, I am attached to people ranging from the American Cancer Society, to Sun Microsystems to the University of Texas to Google.

But what advertising possibilities exist for Social-networking?

Well, let us examine MySpace.

MySpace is one of the top sites on line today. I-t racked up 9.4 billion page-views in August 2005 (greater than Google) and new people are signing up at a mind-boggling rate of 3.5 million a month.

MySpace is typical of where todays 18-30 year-old would go to manage their digital life. I-t allows people to post pictures of themselves and their friends, produce a weblog, list their favorite bands, view and share videos, suggest activities to do and lists a couple of people they consider friends. It is with this 'Friends List' where all of the opportunities lay.

All thirty million plus people of MySpace have a friends page that lists people that person thinks their friend. This is a list of individuals who they're interested in talking to and about, along with reading from on an everyday basis. They can send you messages, discuss your photos, study your sites, as well as abandon messages that you can then tell the others after you add somebody as your friend. That is an opportunity for instant feedback about you.

The ability to add friends to your page is crucial for marketing to MySpace consumers. In accordance with Courtney Holt, head of new media and strategic advertising at Interscope Records, 'This technology is growing up without having ever viewed developed media. 'They do not think in terms of the recording, and they don't think in terms of a TV schedule. They think when it comes to TiVo, P2P, AOL, and obviously MySpace.

You can observe how this might develop.

Let us say you produce a MySpace account to fairly share your service or product. You weblog about this and look for your interests that may be shared by others.

You then invite them to be your friend. If they become a friend you begin your 'soft market' begging your solution in their mind.

They begin blogging and sharing it, as they grow to appreciate it. Quickly hundreds or even thousand of people are referring to you and your product or service.

Do not think this will work?

I want to give you some situations. This salient close window website has uncountable ideal lessons for the meaning behind this view. There are lots of groups who've gotten their begin MySpace. By just hosting some of their music on line and blogging about themselves they developed a following. Soon they'd document deals and contracts lined-up.

Needless to say to-use services like MySpace you'll need to get anything this marketplace needs. If you don't then you probably shouldn't put a lot of effort into MySpace.

But that does not mean other social-networking opportunities ought to be overlooked. LinkedIn is more of an expert introduction service, as i stated earlier. If your product or service fits here then by all means examine it further.

And you'll find others aswell. Ser-vices including Yahoo!s MyWeb, Flickr, http://del.icio.us and more.

So if you have ever wondered what other online possibilities may be out there, consider social networking. It may be the next great internet marketing channel..
