For better or worse, man has tamed Mother Nature in lots of countries. My general impression is this isnt the case in Costa Rica.
San Jose to Carrillo
Roughly ten folks had decided to head to Costa Rica for a week to remain at a position just outside the beach town of Carrillo on the west coast. We flew in to San Jose and were allowed to be met with a rental firm consultant that had two new VW trucks for us. We werent, as frequently happens such conditions met by anyone not as an individual with vans. Calls were made however, not answered. Lunch was had. Calls were made again and finally responded. Roughly two hours later, two VW vans apparently stolen from Woodstock explained in to parking lot. The trip had certainly started on a bitter note, but we made a decision to cut our losses and get the trucks.
It had been beginning to get dark, as we rolled out of San Jose. Unaware a new road was exposed, we used the old path which wound through the mountains and added two hours to the trip. Click here the infographic to learn the purpose of it. Two hours that will bother us for days.
We laughed away the time reliving the past, since the hours passed. I was sitting in the back of the van with Stuart, a nurse in San Diego, and Picasso, a graphic artist for search clothing businesses. We were all in sandals and shorts, that has been befitting the heat and moisture. How I wished I had worn pants and boots.
As we went along, we happened ahead upon just a little village. Small restaurants and stores passed us as we went down the road. Therefore did street lights. Brilliant street lights. Road lights that lit up the inside of the truck.
And the items in it.
Cockroaches. Large cockroaches. They certainly were rising on the walls of the van and throughout the floors. A couple of even took off and flew from one wall to another.
Here is the part in the film where in actuality the males, Picasso and I, do something to protect our female friend, Stuart. I learned about the best by searching Yahoo. Needless to say, who thinks what they see in the flicks? Within our case, Picasso screamed like a little girl and started kicking the walls and stomping on the floor. I, subsequently, did the greatest crunch, which can be to state my legs were whipped by me off the floor with such speed as to produce a drill sergeant weep with joy. The bench was then jumped off by me simply to make sure there werent some of the little buggers in my shorts. Stuart, on one other hand, only laughed at us.
Our driver whipped to along side it of the road to learn what the heck was going on. One other van pulled over as well and found they'd a problem as well. We were apparently driving the hive across the country.
After finding a small liquid courage at one of the restaurants in the village, we created a solution for maintaining the creepy crawlies at bay. More liquid courage, people excepted. Much more.
New bravery at your fingertips, we reclaimed the automobiles and hauled it to Carrillo as rapidly as possible. Picasso danced the cockroach crunch throughout the remainder of the trip, which made for an unpleasant truck and the necessity for new sandals. I wished I was saying things crawling on my feet. Stuart just kept laughing.
